delicious breakfast/lunch/dinner around csuf (fullerton)

I recently had the time to spend a weekend around Cal State University in Fullerton! CSUF is a great school, and one of the main perks about attending this school is the beautiful, sunny weather. Unfortunately, I chose the wrong weekend to tour the campus, because it was one of the few days in the year where it rained quite a bit. Despite the gloomy weather, I was still able to enjoy some amazing food around the area. In this article I will share some of these amazing places for you to check out if you are visiting for the weekend or if you’re a student here looking for some good places to eat.

one of the few perks of attending CSUF =)

Places to Eat!
During my visit to Fullerton, I made sure to eat at some delicious, affordable food spots. In the post, I will give my review on these places and I will also list some other amazing spots that I’ve tried in the past, that I highly recommend.

1.) SoCal Wings in Fullerton
The first place that I tried was this amazing chicken wing spot called SoCal Wings!

The restaurant is a little hole in the wall spot, located less than a mile from campus.

I went with a friend, and together we easily went through their ten piece wings, large SoCal Fries, and one of their chicken sandwiches! We washed it down with one of their signature drinks, Mango Raspberry Mojito (non-alcoholic).

The wings were super good. Based off the cashier’s recommendation, we ordered the Honey BBQ and the Garlic Parmesan. Both of them blew my damn mind away. 10 out of 10!

look at this damn thing :,)

Out of the three food items that we ordered, the wings were definitely my favorite, but a close second was the SoCal Fries. The fries came loaded with buffalo boneless wings, cheese, ranch, and green onions. The mixture of all these things had me in tears with each bite. I would definitely order it again…although next time I’ll probably choose between the wings or the fries because they were both very big in portion size.

The chicken sandwich was really good, but I don’t know why we ordered it. We were beyond full from the wings and the fries. Despite being full, we still managed to destroy the whole sandwich, simply because it was too delicious to not finish. The sandwich was decently sized, not too big, not too small. It would be the perfect meal to eat for lunch, if you’re on a quick study break!

2.) Shorty’z
The second spot that I tried out was Shorty’z. Shorty’z is a nice, cozy, mom and pop diner type restaurant. You order at the front but they bring out the food to your table. They specialize in hamburgers, and breakfast items, such as burritos and pancakes. I went with the “Meaty” breakfast burrito and it did not disappoint. The burrito contained eggs, hashbrowns, cheese, sausage, ham, and bacon. It definitely did not disappoint. Their menu was full of other delicious sounding meals, such as sandwiches, chocolate chip pancakes, French toast, and much more. If you have yet to try it, definitely check it out. But be sure to visit earlier in the day, as they close at 3PM. They’re also closed on Wednesdays. I would recommend you check them out on Sunday morning when you’re hungover. It’ll be the perfect cure!

3.) George’s Hamburgers
The 3rd spot I checked out was this place called George’s Hamburgers. I heard their best item is the breakfast burrito, so I wanted to check it out for myself, as I consider myself a breakfast burrito connoisseur. Unfortunately when I went, it was well after breakfast hours, and they stop serving breakfast at 1:00PM. I was a bit disappointed but the cashier recommended I try one of their non-breakfast burritos, the carne asada or the chicken burrito. The fatass that I am, I went with both, with a side of fries. Don’t let the “Hamburger’s” in the name of the restaurant fool you. Their burritos are amazing, arguably better than their burgers.. I never tried their burgers so I wouldn’t know but their burritos were crazy good. On top of that, their portion sizes are ridiculously, insanely big!
Aside from the food, I liked the vibe of the restaurant as well. It has a very old school, diner vibe. I wouldn’t be surprised if George’s has been around since the 70s or 80s. It seems like they specialize in American and Mexican food. I had a great time here eating their delicious burritos, but I’ll be sure to be back to try the breakfast burrito!

All three of these spots were amazing and I recommend them to anyone that’s in the area. Also be sure to tour their beautiful campus!

It was pretty rainy today but the campus is still looking beautiful!

CSUF
CSUF is a university located in Fullerton, California. The school is 1 of the 23 universities in the California State University system. It is also one of the more competitive schools to get into. Because the school is located in sunny Orange County, it makes this campus extremely beautiful and a great place to attend. Although this school is mostly a commuter school, it is still a fun school to attend because of all the things you can enjoy year round , both because of the great weather and the great location! What other school do you know where you can surf at the beach, snowboard in the mountain, and party in the city, all in the same day?

If you’re currently in a situation where you’re choosing which university to attend, I highly recommend checking out CSUF.
