Although I do not live in the dorms anymore, this was a typical lazy Sunday for me even back then.

How I spend Sundays when I don't want to step foot outside

Just like you, I’m a super busy person. I’m a full time student, a full time worker, and a full time socializer (meaning I need to meet my socializing requirements every week). Monday through Friday, I’m busting my butt off at work, and later at night, I’m tackling assignments on my laptop for my boring classes. Friday nights and all day Saturdays are reserved for hanging out at the bars or spending time with my friends, family, and/or any of their dogs. Because of this busy, hectic schedule, I usually find myself not wanting to step a foot outside of my living quarters, once Sunday comes around.

Here is what I like to do on Sundays to lounge out, while also staying somewhat productive.

1.) Sleep In

My favorite part about Sunday is sleeping in. I usually sleep until my body naturally wakes me up. I think my body is trained to start naturally waking up early, because even when I “sleep in ” on Sundays, I can’t sleep past 9AM. Either way, waking up to no alarm clock is always a great feeling. After I sleep in, I enjoy making my bed, even though I know I’m going to be jumping back in after like 30 minutes.

2.) E-Mails / Computer / Journal
I usually like to get all of my school work done during the weekday, so I don’t have to focus on anything school related on the weekends, but I still check my computer for any important emails or assignments that I might have missed. I also like checking my assignments and reviewing whatever I need to review on Sunday mornings, so my brain is refreshed and ready to go during the week. I feel like if I skip this part, my Mondays feel very foggy and I feel like I’m missing something.

I also like to journal and do some sort of devotional on Sunday mornings. Given that it is Sunday, I feel the need to start my day off with some journaling and reflecting.

3.) Nintendo Switch
Like I said, I don’t like to step foot outside on Sundays. On a Saturday, I might spend this time at a nice cafe or a diner pigging out on a fat stack of about 10 pancakes, 5 eggs, and 7 sausage links. On Sundays, I keep it a tad bit classier by enjoying a nice book or playing video games on my precious gaming system. I usually do one or the other, but sometimes I enjoy mixing it up. The Nintendo Switch is something that I just recently started playing, actually. I usually don’t like to play games, but with all the stress from work and school, I wanted a way to decompress and get my mind off all this craziness. My favorite games are Switch Sports, when I’m looking for a game in a group setting, or Super Smash Bros when I’m looking to play a game by myself, although this is also a very fun group game as well.

I usually just eat a granola bar or protein bar during this time, while enjoying a nice cup of tea. If I’m feeling really productive, I might go make myself some actual breakfast while brewing a nice cup of coffee.

You can play the Switch in a handheld form or if you’re playing with a group of friends, you can attach it to a TV.

(If you have the means to do so, I highly recommend you purchase a Nintendo Switch. It’ll help you get your mind off of the stresses of this world (although some games might add on different kinds of stress) and it’ll be sure to keep you entertained. Also, it’s the perfect gaming system to have when friends come over. Unlike other systems, there are plenty of fun, enjoyable games that everyone can enjoy, whether they normally play video games or not.)

4.) Nap
I usually find myself napping during this part of the day. Even if I’m not napping, I’m usually in bed, resting. For whatever reason, I’m always extra tired on Sunday afternoons. It’s probably from the late night of debauchery I had the night before, on top of the jam packed week of school and work.

5.) Order Dinner
Unless my parents call me and make me go to their home for dinner, I usually order pizza at my place every Sunday. I enjoy ordering pizza because it’s super delicious and because I know I can split the pizza into 2-3 meals. I enjoy scarfing pizza down while watching reruns of WWE on my Peacock account or watching whatever sporting event is on.

Ordering food is so beautiful. You order on an app on your phone, and it's at your front door!

6.) Exercise
As my Sunday begins to wrap up, I usually like to exercise so I can feel productive as I enter the jam packed work/school week.

When I lived in the dorms, I was given a 20lb dumbbell. I still use this dumbbell to this day. It is truly amazing at how many workouts you can get done with a simple dumbbell. I also purchased one of these pull up bars that you attach to your door frame. My neighbor in the dorms used to have one, so I would always use his, and I eventually purchased my own. I got into poor physical shape when I lived in the dorms, but these things played a big part in helping me get back into shape. I highly recommend you purchase your own!

Some of the work outs that I do with the dumbbell are lunges, dumbbell rows, and curls. These are just a few of the work outs that you can do with this precious piece of metal.

With the door frame bar, I use them for pull ups, sit ups, and push ups.

7.) Snack and Sleep
The last part of my day is eating a snack or some leftover pizza. I then get ready for bed. I usually pop some melatonin to help me get some good sleep!
